Metal Theft of High Purity Chrome Metal Briquettes and Titanium Sponge

On the night of 13 to 14th November 2011, there was a metal theft of over 18.65 tonnes of material, including high purity Chrome metal briquettes and Titanium Sponge from Koring Freight Forwarders (also known as Kebo Trans) warehouse in Barendrecht, the Netherlands.

Two lots of titanium sponge and three lots of chromium metal were stolen as outlined below: -

4 Drums (900 Kg) of Titanium Sponge, Ref. K854196, Size 10 to 30 mm

30 Drums (6750 Kg) of Titanium Sponge, Ref. K854219, Size 10 to 30 mm

4 Drums (1000 Kg) Chromium Metal, High Purity Chrome Metal Briquettes 99.93% Cr, Ref. KFF251179, Size 15 to 30 mm

20 Drums (5000 Kg) Chromium Metal, High Purity Chrome Metal Briquettes, 99.93% Cr, Ref. KFF251231, Size 15 to 30 mm

20 Drums (5000 Kg) Chromium Metal, High Purity Chrome Metal Briquettes, 99.93% Cr Ref. KFF251275, Size 15 to 30 mm

End Users of High Purity Chrome Metal Briquettes and Titanium Sponge

High purity Chrome metal briquettes are used as a Chrome source for production of superalloys for the aerospace and other high technology industries.

Titanium sponge is used by the aerospace industry for critical parts and by general industry, mainly for plate heat exchangers, and an additive in manufacturing special stainless steels. The titanium sponge used for crucial engine parts in particular is called a premium grade, and is manufactured under extremely strict quality control.
